4 FebWHAT GETS YOU MOVIN’: Jason Mickle Photography
30 JanHey Guys! Back in late Spring of 2012 I assisted fashion photographer, Jason Mickle, on a fashion story that recently appeared in West East Magazine. The story is loosely based around the crucifixion of Christ, and paintings depicting that story. For some reason it’s called Step Into Wonder (I’m not sure why) but the spread came out beautifully. I always learn so much when I work with Jason!
Here are a couple of pictures from the shoot, to see all of them you can visit here.

WHAT GETS YOU MOVIN’: Suit & Tie
14 Jan
By now, I’ve went to bed and woken up to Justin Timberlake’s new joint Suit & Tie, I think I’ve listen to it 15 times. If you follow me on twitter, you know I’m feeling it. I find it to be grown, sexy, soulful, pop music and I’m looking forward to hopefully hearing more of Timberland and this vibe in the airwaves.
The track features Jay-Z with JT, but i have to say, Jay’s verse was kind of lack luster. The highlight for me was Timberland’s production; Suite & Tie takes me on a ride where i want to two-step, slow motion, and strip tease for my well-dressed man. With the beat and JT’s crooning, it’s feels perfect for Fall or late Spring, but I’ll take it right now as well!
We haven’t heard new music from Justin since 2006, and although this isn’t some huge smash, i think it’s a great vibe to come back into the music game with; one again JT is bringing sexy back!
WHAT GETS YOU MOVIN’: Week 8, Fall Diary
11 Jan
Thanksgiving Day week! Boy was I looking forward to a much needed break from work and school, and my trip down to DC to visit my best friend for the holiday’s festivities. I remember this week pretty clearly, because i tried a fashion experiment with myself. Basically I always visualize outfits, usually they end up being items that I don’t actually own, so that’s usually how I decide what will be my next purchase for my closet. This week though, well really Monday and Tuesday I visualized what I would want to wear ideally based on my mood, and figured out what I had in my closet that would most closely emulate that. I liked the results a lot, but by Wednesday I had a midterm to study for and packing to do, so I couldn’t put that much thought into recreating my wardrobe. I’m going to practice this method more in the Winter and see what I come up with.
This is a short week in my Style Diary, by the time I Continue reading
WHAT GETS YOU MOVIN’: Inspirational Souls
9 JanRaedawn Johnson

My friend Raedawn Johnson was featured in Essence.com! Raedawn is the founder of Orglamic Beauty and a celebrity makeup artist here in NYC, we’ve collaborated a couple of times, and I’m so happy that she’s getting some shine. She’s such a great, energetic soul! Check out her great story, as well as a few tips to you aspiring makeup artists.
Here’s and excerpt:
” I was 21 years old, had just landed in New York City and was laser-focused on accomplishing one goal—becoming a well-known, well-respected TV and film actress. After five years of hearing casting directors tell me I didn’t “look ethnic enough” or my skills weren’t “good enough,” I decided I needed a plan B.” Go to Essence.com to read the rest of the Raedawn’s story.
WHAT GETS YOU MOVIN’: Feelin’ So Good
7 Jan
Don’t judge me, but one of my favorite songs is Jennifer Lopez’s Feelin’ So Good. Not because it’s some amazing song, where JLo shows off her amazing singing prowess (hahaha), but solely because it really does make me feel so damn good!
The song has been on heavy heavy rotation today, minus listening to J.Cole’s Friday Night Lights once (to motivate me on my grind), it’s the only things I’ve listened to today; on repeat. New York can jade you and can make you down right unknowingly cranky, so I wanted to change up my vibe.
I used to listen to Feelin’ So Good all the time in college when I was having a crap day. When this is on, I’m literally skipping down the street, smiling, and couldn’t have a care in the world, and HELLO Big Pun is on the track; try it out.
WHAT GETS YOU MOVIN’: Buffalo Stance
4 JanNeneh Cherry’s Buffalo Stance has been stuck in my head for the last 2 days. As a kid I only knew the chorus, and that’s all I really still know, but I still love it.
Side note, I forgot how stunning Nenah Cherry was, boy have videos improved, and is it bad that i think I want a dollar sign chain?
