WHAT GETS YOU MOVIN’: On the Road With DJ Dummy

4 Feb

On The Road With DJ Dummy – Part 1 from DJ Dummy on Vimeo.

Check out behind the scenes footage of the homie, DJ Dummy, on the road for the past year.  Part one of his journey takes viewers through touring with J.Cole, as well as Dummy’s own European solo tour, and a spot in Sri Lanka.  The video is shot and edited by the lovely and talented Azza Suliman.

Don’t judge me, but one of my favorite songs is Jennifer Lopez’s Feelin’ So Good.  Not because it’s some amazing song, where JLo shows off her amazing singing prowess (hahaha), but solely because it really does make me feel so damn good!

The song has been on heavy heavy rotation today, minus listening to J.Cole’s Friday Night Lights once (to motivate me on my grind), it’s the only things I’ve listened to today; on repeat.  New York can jade you and can make you down right unknowingly cranky, so I wanted to change up my vibe.

I used to listen to Feelin’ So Good all the time in college when I was having a crap day. When this is on, I’m literally skipping down the street, smiling, and couldn’t have a care in the world, and HELLO Big Pun is on the track; try it out.

WHAT GETS YOU MOVIN’: Backseat Freestyle

2 Jan

1) I’ve noticed I’ve been listening to a lot more rap lately; I think my job is infiltrating my mind.

2) Backseat Freestyle, off of my one of my favorite albums of 2012, Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city, is a cool video, black & white, some story line, some mirroring video effects, nothing crazy.  I doubt it is really THE Sherane, but Kendrick’s face when we get to see the infamous ‘Sherane,’ is priceless!

3) More fashion and diverse music selections coming soon… just moving by my day-to-day inspirations.

Happy Wednesday! Who’s heading back to work? Meeeee!

I wanted to leave you with new music, All-Star Freestyle, from my good friend Capitol E and his boy Young Jay.  Supporting the up and coming in 2013.

If you follow me on twitter (JaiNima), you may remember earlier this week I instagramed and tweeted a picture of me and the artist, Jamel Castro, beat after wrapping up his video shoot.  I shot the majority of the video, serving as Director of Photography for his promo video.  It’s was my 1st stint at the music video thing, and although it was kind of stressful because Jamel Castro is a film director in his own right, it was lots of fun and I look forward to doing more.

Check out the promo video from Castro’s upcoming project MDMA, coming out November 1st.
