WHAT GETS YOU MOVIN?: fashion

13 Oct

During Spring/Summer 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion week, I went to many shows, one of my favorite was Honor; remember some of my pictures I posted (click here)?

In addition to going to the show, I also got a chance to speak to Honor designer, Giovanna Randall as well as actress Tracee Ellis-Ross. Take a peek at some of my conversation, as well as the collection in motion!

I left the Perry Ellis show saying yummy, although my favorite model of the show only walked at the end….i wish i knew his name,!  Anyway, Creative Director and designer, John Crocco did a nice job with 2012 Spring collection, and who ever did the casting did a spectacular job.  Over the seasons, we’ve seen Crocco infuse more color into the Perry Ellis brand, and this spring he opted for a more muted color palete.  I got a chance to speak with the designer, and he said he was inspired by the Arizona deserts, and that can be clearly scene.  With heavy use of khaki and creams, accented with corals, cyans, purples, yellows and blues, I could see the desert sky at sunset.

Although i would love a man with a little more edgy style than the Perry Ellis man, everyone once and a while, or on vacation, I’d enjoy this pumped up preppy look.

The best part of the show, was of course the boys, but more importantly at the finale, when all the models came out shirtless.  OOOh Wee! All of the ladies, and most of the men, were quite happy, let me tell you!

Fashion week started this past Thursday with a bang!  Although I only got to stop by a few places for Fashion’s Night Out, Bergdorf’s, Henri Bendel, and few spots in Soho, I did get to take in a show.  My 1st show, on the 1st day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, was menswear designer Francis Hendy.  Right out side of Lincoln Center, at Time Center Plaza, inside Samsung, Francis Hendy held his show.  Although not at the tent, the environment was fun and the music was pumping.

As far as the clothes, I’d say that the suits were far more superior than the casual wear.  If any man I dated wore that casual wear…well, I wouldn’t date anyone that would wear all those colors and patterns.  Maybe the styling was off, I don’t know.  What I do know though, is that the suits were sharp, and tailored wonderfully!

Overall the show was good, and I loved the diversity of the models!
